There was only one shot on target in the first half of Denmark's clash with Slovenia and it came from the right boot of Eriksen. The Manchester United star chested down a flick-on and then fired the ball past goalkeeper Jan Oblak to open the scoring in a real fairytale moment, the goal coming exactly 1100 days since he suffered a cardiac arrest in Denmark's opening match of Euro 2020.
Slovenia struggled to create anything of note initially, with Benjamin Sesko's long-ranger their best effort, but grew into the game as Denmark lost their way after half-time. Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund both missed chances for Denmark and they proved costly as Slovenia levelled late on through a powerful strike from Erik Janza that took a slight deflection as it flew into the back of the net.

Eriksen is the oldest player in Danish history to score at a men's European Championship after netting at the grand old age of 32 years and 123 days.

Eriksen enjoyed a memorable day for Denmark with an influential performance against Slovenia. The United man struck a superb goal that looked like being the winner until Janza's deflected strike made it 1-1. Yet even though Eriksen and Denmark were ultimately pegged back there was no denying the veteran's quality. Slovenia afforded the attacking midfielder far too much time and space throughout the game, allowing him to showcase his quality almost every time he was on the ball.

Rasmus Hojlund came into the tournament on a high after winning the FA Cup with Manchester United but found it tough going against Slovenia. The striker struggled up against Vanja Drkusic and simply couldn't get the better of the defender. He also came up short with a glorious chance to make it 2-0 but was denied by Oblak from close range in a miss that ended up proving costly.
