Birmingham City continued their rise up the Championship table with a 3-1 victory over Rotherham on Saturday, thanks to a hat-trick from striker Lukas Jutkiewicz at St Andrew’s.

Garry Monk’s side are now unbeaten in eight games after enduring a difficult summer having been placed under a transfer embargo for failing to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Jutkiewicz put the home side ahead after 20 minutes, heading in from close range at the back post after some poor Rotherham defending. Then just three minutes later he added his second with another tap-in.

The 29-year-old completed his first ever career hat-trick in the second half with a low drive from a well-worked free-kick which put the result beyond doubt, despite Jon Taylor pulling one back for the visitors.
